My daughter works at a local coffee house part time while she goes to college. Someone stole their tip jar so I ask the manager if I could make them a new one.

The coporate logo was reverse engraved in the acrylic and then edge lit with 5 LEDs. The top portion was v-carved and paint filled.

The fiberoptic effect of the acrylic gives a dramatic lighting result to the logo. The manager has told me it gets quite a lot of comments. I just hope it increases the amount of tips they receive!

That is a cool jar. You might want to anchor it to the table... I think someone might steal it empty!

I assume that is powered by bateries from the back? How did you bend the plastic, heat it up or is it very thin? I definitely would attach a small clamp to secure it to the counter because before, they stole the jar for the money, now they will steal it for the money AND the cool design and lights! Very slick, nice work.

Jack,
It's powered with a 12VDC wall wart power supply. The plastic is 1/4" cast acrylic. Heated up and formed over a MDF plug that was also cut on the bot.

I may have gotten this link here originally but there are all kinds of cool ideas (but not as cool as Stans) at this site:
