View Full Version : Tool to remove collett easily

Hi All,

When I change bits I regularly get the problem of the collett being stuck in pretty firmly and I have been using a vice grip to remove them. I wrap the collett in a bit of rubber to protect it but it still gets damaged over time. Is there as simple device for leveraging out colletts that will not damage them?

drop it on the floor that works well. it even works better if there are hidden places for it to go.
myself i just bought extra nuts so I don't have to worry about it.

Try blowing the dust out with an airline.

I'll assume you're using a spindle. Do you mean that the nut unscrews but the collet stays stuck in the taper in the spindle's shaft?

If so make sure that you're securely snapping the collet into the nut before screwing it onto the spindle...it's really important. Here's a video of the process that might be helpful:
