3D maps

I currently cut 3D maps of the US using globalmapper to gather the elevation data in DXF Face format. Does anyone know how to gather the elevation data outside the US in that format?

I don't know if it will help you any, but I just saved a downloaded topo(jpeg)as a dxf file after tracing it in Inkscape. You can download Inkscape for free. Great program, it will trace bitmaps,jpegs, about any photo format you can pull into it. I have found that the finer the line detail the better. Sometimes you have to open the file in Adobe and clean it up, maybe even change it from color to black and white. I save them as a pdf and open it in VCrave.
