Hi,

I wanted to share these pictures with you. The Gear Plate is for a customer in New Hampshire. It is 15"L x 4"W x 2"H and milled from 6061-T6 grade aluminum on a slightly modified ShopBot Buddy 48. All dimensions are within 0.005" or better. Top and bottom are parallel within 0.002".

Cheers
Dan

Thank you for your comments gentlemen. Please find a link to a video of one of the slots in the Gear Plate being cut. That will give you an idea of the feedrate. Cutter is 1/2" carbide spinning at 10 000 rpm.

Will have more info about clean-up of the part once it has been cut in my next post.

Cheers
Dan

Daniel-

So you created a lowered splash pan area below your regular table height?

Are you cooling with a commercial coolant?

This is a very interesting project. And the final product looks awesome.

Looks very professional, and the tolerances are quite impressive.

More inspiration to venture beyond "woodworking"
