My grandson (6) asked me to help him make a pirate or treasure chest... With a lock! The lock part was emphasized many times... I understood this requirement well as I also had older brothers! I modeled this in SketchUp, blanked out the parts on the bot and added the compound angle elements on the table saw.

I've been designing my projects so they don't use the other tools in my shop preferring to let the bot do all the work, I had to clean out the cob webs and with the help of http://jansson.us/jcompound.html (http://jansson.us/jcompound.html) figured out all my angles. I built the box out of scrap 12mm Baltic Birch and then proceeded to add $50.00 worth of bling... after all what's a pirate's chest without bling!

No, No, not Bling....Pirate BOOTY! Of course now it has a different meaning...not sure how much of THAT booty you could get in that treasure chest.

I remember having my own treasure chest of "stash" I had hidden in my locked box. Let's see I remember having my collection of comic books (Sgt. Fury and the howling commando's), assorted 3 musketeer bars or oh henry's, zippo lighter, can lighter fluid, probably at least one playboy with the pages stuck together...(don't know how that happened!) probably at least one pocket knife but NO CIGARETTES...

Hmmm...what would i keep in something like that now... It probably would have a "caliber" designation to it...

Nice Job Steve...but did we expect anything less? No!:D

Jack very nice box... wish I had know you were make one I have an old stage coach box pattern made like that and I think i still had where you could get the old hinges and latches at.

did you put a false bottom in it... that way he can hide things even more.

again very nice...
