Here’s an unusual project we were asked to do for a local cabinet shop… It’s a hand washing basin for a kosher kitchen. The cabinet shop routinely sends us customers who want something different.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out vectors from the paper plans we were given. I finally determined that I didn’t have enough information! When I finally got the DXF files I was able to figure it out.

The stand is alternating maple and cherry laminations and the cabinet shop glued up the panels for us to cut the parts from.

That is really nice, looks like something from back in the '30's. Art Deco?? ...joe

“Art Deco??”

Not sure what the architect had in mind… it’s totally out of character with the rest of the cabinetry in the home. I wondered if there was a religious significance to the design. I’m told the homeowners are Orthodox Jews.

FYI: The only specific requirement is the function, not the design.
It is quite cool looking and, as per usual, a very nice execution Steve.
Functionally are a few of the lower pieces removable for plumbing access?
Did he forget faucets or is washing and cleaning of the basin to be done via a ewer?

No running water to the basin… I’m told that a bowel of rain water sits on the top shelf, is scooped with a “cup” and poured over the hands… the lower bowl is hooked to a drain. I could see no provision to allow the plumber to hook up the drain, so I asked how that was going to be accomplished… basically I was told that it’s not my problem! I won’t be surprised to see a request for modified parts!
I got the check in the mail yesterday with a $150 tip! Someone was pleased!
