I have an old PR 48x96, and I just noticed when I type in MX 5, It moves to 5.001 is that normal?
I see SB has 2.38 for a D/L will that fix my problem?

I think it's normal. I have seen it with the dos and windows versions. You could see 4.999 also. Version 2.38 will just have some other bug fixes/enhancements.

It's because of the way stepper motors work. They rotate in fixed "steps" so that tool moves in increments who's size depends on things like the size pinion gear used, if they have gearboxes attached, if they are set to quarter-step or eight-step, etc. The tool can only stop at one of these fixed steps, no matter what the command tells it to do, and the display shows where that step is.

That's a function of the step resolution of the motors, I believe. The machine is only advertised as having positional accuracy of .002, so for the reading to be "off" by .001 is completely within specs. It does not mean the machine has lost its position by .001, it's just that that is the closest the stepper motor can get to the desired point.
