Cabinet Door variation!

If I design a simple door in autocad a certain size and have a design on the face, how can I make another size with the same margins from the edge without designing a whole new door? I would just like to put the size in and have it automatically adjust. Not only that but I would like it to have the same tool selection and toolpaths! Am I being unreasonable?

It seems to me that lets say you have your material size is 12wX24h which represents the size of your door.
But the design is 10wX22h leaving you a 1" margin around the outside of the material for the door.

Now, If I understand you, you now have another cabinet door that is 10wX20h and you want to carve the same design with the same margins but just a smaller version of the same thing?

If so, then on your original design of 12X24 draw a vector box around the outside perimeter of your design. Save it as a dxf.
Then when you create your material size for the smaller door (10X20) you can import that dxf, size it to 8X18, center it in your material and you should have an exact copy of the bigger door only smaller.
You will have to redo the toolpaths but this whole operation shouldn't take but a few minutes.

You can make the door into a block in AutoCad (type b on the command line) and then scale the block in the AutoCad properties box in x,y and z as desired.

A new block will show a scale of 1,1,1.

If you then scale the block to 1.5, 1, 1
the door will become 1.5 times as wide as the original door.

Not sure, but you may want to scale the design on the door by itself.

All good solutions! I'm new at this and am very impressed with shobotters ready to help.......I could not locatebruce Clark or Mike Richards however and that's probably because of my own skills!

OK! I think I've got all the stuff to get going. I am going to make a hard copy of Bruce's infor and tutorials and hope I can transform these into some doors for my friend!

have you looked at the MDF Door capability in eCabinets? You might find the parametric design capability you are looking for there.
