first happy father's day to all.

learning this powerful and amazing software and have a few questions.

1. when creating a v carve tool path, can you manually set the depth of cut that will override the software calculation.
2. how do you manually set the position of text on material on the x & y axis
3. how do you create stepdown passes on a vcarve toolpath.
4. during a job, how do you manually set the move speed on x & y.
5. can you add a rulers and guides on the x & y in the window.

this should be enough for now

1. "Flat Depth (F) limits the depth that the tool(s) will machine to, and is used for Flat Bottomed Carving and Engraving.

When No Flat Depth specified the toolpath will be calculated to carve or engrave to full depth"

2. click on create text, enter x and y values. If the text already exists, select it, click on create text, enter x and y values.

3. select toolpaths, vcarve, v tool select, and set pass depth.

4. You can set the cutting speed with select toolpaths, vcarve, v tool select, and set feed rate.

5. No rulers in current version. I never found that I needed rulers but that's just me. If I need to do CAD type work I use my CAD program, export the design as DXF, and then import the DXF into V Carve.
