We have just loaded VisualMill 5 and we are having difficulty creating a part file in ShopBot control. After command 'FC' I select my vmp. file and attempt a conversion, with no success.
Is there a vital step that we are omitting?

Can we open VisualMill parts directly in ShopBot control?

Riding the learning curve(boy it's a big one)..

Gary
Thanks

In VM 5 use the shopbot post processor . and create a .sbp file directly from VM . one thing that the VM post does is insert two lines near the top of the .sbp file : ---I think that it's the fourth and fifth ones one is " & tool = c5 " , The next one is " C5 " ---JUst delete these lines or put a "'" in front of them and the file should run just fine . ---One thing to watch out for is the move speeds in VM they are in inches per minute . I usually set these at 90 ipm ( 1.5 inch per second ) and use 180 for my transfers. The other thing that I did was to modify my post processor file to make the Z speed 1/3 of the xy speed . let me know if you'd like a copy and I'll email it to you . It takes a while but after a coupl of days it's pretty intuitive .

Mike,
As of October 2004, the VM5 ShopBot post is giving me trouble. When posting a drill function, MS commands are on the same line as Move commands. ie:
M3,1.000,2.500,1.250MS1.50,1.00
Are you having the same experience?
Jim

Hi James : I had the same problem , and I think that I got a special post for drilling from mecsoft . I've emailed two of them to you . It's been a long time since I used VM for drilling . But I know one of them works . You might have to set the speed to " use rapid " in the feeds dialogue as well . Mike

Thanks Mike. Setting the Feeds and Speeds menu to 'USE RAPID' does the trick! Why, I don't know. I'll try to get Mecsoft to answer that one.
