Doing small lettering - apporx .3" high, I used a 60deg vbit, at .03 depth, worked out ok, until I get different bits. Question - if only cutting a depth 0f .03, do I need to run the router at 15000, or can I reduce speed(also reduce wear on router bearings, and cut down on noise)? I know I can try and see, just wondering others opinion before I try. Meant to mention - cuttering lettering on white oak. Meant to mention - cutting on white oak.

Lou, I do most of my v-carving that is shallow, less than .25" at 10,000rpm. Does not seam to change the finished cut and is a bit quieter. James

Thanks, that's what I kind of figured, and since I'm only doing a .03" cut, I can get away with a lot lower speed.
