Hi,
Has anyone tried overclocking their 18000 rpm hsd spindle?
I have an 18k HSD type spindle, and mainly use single flute RT cutters, which would ideally run a little faster. Seeing as (according to Brady) Colombo use steel bearings in their 24k spindles, and their is no other basic difference between the motors, I thought I would try it at 20k (which is a speed used on some belt driven fixed head routers with traditional bearings). Limited tests at 19k have not resulted in any greater bearing heat.
My question is has anyone else tried this and regretted it?
