I know that a motor noise produced by a spindle is far less than the noise a router makes. My question concerns the noise made by the cutter cutting the material. A V-Carving bit in a router makes less noise than a 1/4" straight bit in a router. Is there less "cutter noise" with a spindle? My guess would be no.
I asked this question on the Columbo spindle vs. router thread but that discussion has taken on a life of it's own so I'm starting a new thread on this issue. I apologize pre-emptively if anyone objects.

Phil, I'm only experienced with a router, but I am pretty sure that the "cutter noise" with a spindle would be the same if not more because you'd likely be cutting faster and plunging deeper with a spindle vs. a router. If I'm not mistaken, someone did answer your question in the other thread.

The cutter noise with a spindle appears to be slightly less. I put this down to the fact that the spindle is heavier and thus "dampens" the vibration to some extent
