I'm curious about the Columbo or Perske spindles. If anyone has experience with running something other than the PC router, please post some feedback.

What are the pros and cons (besides the $$$) to switching to a spindle.

Thanks!

One of the biggest pros for the Columbo or Perske spindles is the noise factor. They are magnitudes quieter than the Porter Cable Routers.

They also have a life span at least 5X greater
than the P.C. routers mainly due to their construction (bearings and heat dissipation are better). Variable frequency speed control also gives you a better range of speeds to suit the jobs.

The Perske's also have less run-out than the P.C.'s so your bits will last longer.

Major con is the cost.
