We just watched a new movie titled "Helvetica" which I found very interesting and informative. It takes you from the original font designers perspective on the design, mechanics, and origin of the font to present day designers who either hate it or love it. Regardless it presents a very interesting perspective on the graphic designers viewpoints, the impact this font has had on our everyday lives, and the global use of the font since its creation.
I think most serious sign makers would appreciate the background and you can gain additional insite at the blog link
