what lighting will you put behind it? You need to check out Cold cathode lighting.

I believe the sun is the source of light, correct?

I'm lost on where to get the CC lighting. I've looked on Sign Syndicate but electricity id beyond my grasp.

Any pointers?

Here is a link for cold cathode lighting. It is $6.99 and you need a "wall wart" plugin (big black square) for less than $10.00. I can send you a lithopane tutorial for wiring and light placement (not made by me) but that i've used and it works great. The cold cathode lighting generates almost no heat whatsoever and is a more uniform and softer lighting source.

email me if you want the tutorial, that is easier than me trying to find the link.

Jack, I wouldn't mind that info as well, if that is ok. I've made a couple of lithopanes that turned out a little fuzzy ( dollar store cutting board ). It's something I plan on taking another shot at when I have some time.

By the way, very nice Gabe.

Gabe,

That is outstanding! I can only hope my first lithopane turns out anywhere near that quality! So many things to try with the new machine and so little time lately! I hope you will share some more info on how you did it...

Jack,

Thanks for being so helpful on this forum. Every time I turn around, you are there!

1/2" Corian, milled down to 0.250"

Height map is .200" with .030" min thickness, (black is .230", white is .030")

1/8" ball nose, MS,1.0,1.0 with a 0.010" stepover.

Took a little over an hour to cut.

Thanks,

Gabe
