Onsrud makes a nice fly cutter 1.25" diameter. Designed just for the job.

Works a treat - also shows up how square your z is, but TAKE CARE on the spindle speed.

Hi all,
What do you all use to hold the spoilboard to the air plentium cut into zones ? I have a 48x96 with 4 zones and when the spoilboard gets machined to around 3/8 " the edges want to lift
I called raptor about a plastic nail gun and they advised against it, but were willing to sell me one anyway 350.00. i was just wondering what ya'll are doing to fix this problem.
Thanks in advance Gene Rhodes

Gene,
You can counter sink screws in the four corners about an 1/8 deeper than your surface to hold down your spoil board. Use aluminum screws.

Gene
In each corner we drill a 10mm hole through into the plenum and then glue a 10mm dowel to the plenum and the spoil board. The dowell gets surfaced along with the spoilboard. When it is time to replace the spoil board we just drill out the dowels and start again.

Thanks for the tips
I wouldn't have thought of dowels or alumium screws. I guess that the saying is true.
None of us is as smart as all of us. Thanks

Plastic screws would be even better?
.........
I've used a 2 inch dia. flat-bottom cutter, painted red, made by AMANA possibly.
I can't find it anywhere on the www.
Can anyone give directions to such a broad bit?

Watch your speeds on those big bits - some of them are only safe at drill-press speeds.

So, anyone have any sources for the plastic/aluminum screws?

Thanks in advance!

Lowes carries plastic bolts. I've used them since day one.
