when I first made them I applied some 1/8" closed cell foam tape and it worked ok. but after a bit I had trouble getting a good seal. I replaced the tape and still had a lot of problems. I could not find where the leaks were and my joints seemed tight.
well it worked fine on plastic and such but the solid wood was giving me issues. like purpleheart and padouk and bubinga. well when I ordered some new stuff from all star he told me to try using a mask on the wood that does not stick. so I was thinking about using a coat of finish. but I did not have anything handy that would dry fast. so I coated the bottom with yellow glue. I used a putty knife to scrape off all the excess and used a heat gun to dry it. works great I had almost perfect seals from then on.
