Square leg
Hey guys. New "poster".. I've been indexing round legs for a few years now. I use vcarve to program..
I am wanting to try doing a square leg similar to my bad sketch attached.
Any ideas of how to achieve? Would I need aspire and 2 rail deep? Or would good old fashioned hand band sawing be best? Wanting 6, 8, 10" sizes..

If I were making these, I'd lay my square blanks all in a row and cut a molding profile across one face of all the legs at once, rotate, repeat 4 times.
If you need a better explanation, I can elaborate this evening when I'm not on my phone!

If you are using the indexer, the simplest way would be to do a 2 rail sweep profile cut on the indexer on one face, rotate it 90 degrees, do another, repeat till you have all four sides done.

Take a look at this post, http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/sho...ghlight=tables
Does not take indexer, just another way to do what you are looking for.

Thanks Guys.. so I use vcarve.. it doesn't allow me to program a 2 rail sweep I assume..
Wound I need to upgrade to aspire? Or other options?

Ah! I have 6.5..
Is this version 8?
Still cheaper than Aspire!

Yes… 8.5 in particular.
This was one of the features that prompted me to upgrade, I knew I had a job coming up… pictured is the Styrofoam mockup of a job I’ll be running as soon as my 4” long ½”-¼” tapered ball nose arrives. I’m gluing four sheets of ¾” Medex (a quality MDF) together to get the required depth. HEAVY!
IMHO this feature isn’t as polished as most of Vectric’s products, it may require some experimentation to get your desired results… Feel free to Ask questions!

Awesome!! I love that! Amazed that you created that!
I've emailed vectric to see the cost of upgrade! Do you do all the cuts with the ballnose? Or just finishing?

So Steve,
You're thinking ganging 4 legs like Russell in this thread;
http://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.p...22207&start=15
And then running the moulding path 4 times?
j,
If it's "Shopbot Edition VCP" it might be cheaper to give Shopbot Sales a call on Monday?
Not sure if you already ponied up for the full version(more PP's)

Oops, Russell Crawford's setup is third page of that thread(second pic) :(
(excellent Malloof joints on Russell's work)
