How do you save a Autocad file in a STL format?

I have a 3D Autocad file i am trying to open in Partworks, no matter what dxf file format i save it in Partworks crashes every time. The file is very small and simple???

There is no adjustment for the plate that attaches the spindle to the z slide, the spindle is bolted on with counter sunk self centering flat head screws leaving no room for adjustment.
