Kenneth,
If you have not changed the nest but just ended before doing the flipops, output to ShopBot again and hit "F", then just type in the number on the flopop label.

Kenneth,

That was pretty cool Scott.
Amazing they are still using that old equipment and making money with it.
I think I would still rather see a modern facility though.
I would like to see how they make...
Dave,
With a little training even your guys could do flip ops, I don't know about bit changes.
Blind dado construction is a different beast then butt joint. Not even the same ball park.
Much...
The most accurate way to zero is to the bed or a block set at bed height.
This makes the tenons fit correctly.
I think we established this in a previous thread.
The fastest production method I...
Dave,
Flips are very easy.
First you need some pop-up pins so you can index 0,0 fast.
Then all you need to do is type in the number on the label of the piece that needs to be machined on the other...
Gary,
Can I vote since I sold my machine?
Kenneth,
That is generated by the Link in the Post.
I just hit return.
I don't think you can get rid of it.
How slow do you guys need to cut to use a 5mm bit?
You can't use a 1/4" bit?
I guess you are doing frameless?
That is the lift I have been wanting to build for a while now.
That sure would save my back.
Using something like it would be the only way I would want to flip a whole sheet.
I didn't download it yet.
Do I read it correctly that you can now do a flip op before you cut out the pieces? You need to flip the whole sheet over?
I have trouble loading sheets, I don't think I...
You could do everything with a 1/4" bit.
But I like 5mm holes in my frameless cabinets.
I have 2 Z's. Cut with a 1/4" compression and drill with a 5mm bit.
No bit changes, goes pretty fast with...
Welcome Jimmie.
You will get all your questions answered here.
Most that visit this forum use the Link daily and some have even learned the hard way.
Does your machine have a spindle or a...
Garry,
Isn't that what the "spoil board thickness" number is for in the Link?
For changing the bed surface height relative to the zero pad.
That sounds like a good idea Dan.
Have you done this?
Is it accurate enough?
I guess if you have to change bits in the middle of the file you are stuck zeroing to the material. I forgot about that. I don't have to change bits.
The best way is a separate zero location. That...
I am surprised to see so many options to do the same thing, zero your Z.
Thermwood designed the system to zero to the bed.
Works really well.
Who is writing your tool changing routines to zero...
Michael,
Two easy ways to hold small parts-
Tabs or onion skin.
It's all in the software.
I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 96x48 to run full size sheets.
And wouldn't think of anything less than Alpha. Much faster machine.
Look for used machines with a spindle also.
Well a negative number for the unit value worked.
Thanks Gary and Kenneth.
Kenneth,
Man that sounds too easy.
I'll try it tomorrow.
I thought about that Gary. But then I think if it was that easy there would not be a special cable for the odd X stepper. I don't know. I could try it. The other thing is to try to copy the cable...
I like that idea.
I'm going to use that one the next time someone is looking for a discount.
I don't do ANYTHING without some sort of a deposit.
It is not a job till some money changes hands.
Without that they have nothing invested and you do.
That can bite you.
I want to move my Y stepper to the other side of my Y car.
How do I reverse the direction of my Y stepper on a PRT Alpha?
Robert,
I agree with Kenneth.
I would not try to stain poplar to match your birch.
Buy 1 board of birch and do it right.
