Had been previously been warned about that so moved the shopbot into its own corner and ran its own power supply cable directly to the meter drop on a different DB.
I'm not sure if that could be...
I really do agree. The boards just seem way to sensitive to interferrence of any sort. Just not robust anymore. Will go round the grounding again. I remember when it was giving me major issues...
Im sure your experience is the norm :D Mine seems to be the aberration :(
Curious, is yours a PRS Alpha? EDIT: Never mind just seen your sig.
DISCLAIMER: Just needed to vent somewhere, frustrated to bits with this machine.
Seeing as we're in lockdown,
Decided to recommission the PRS Alpha 5'x10'. We ignored it for the past two years...
Hi Don,
That was one of the first things we checked and it all was well. Checked all the cables and switched out a couple to no avail.
However the problem has been resolved as of today:
Tech...
Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the response.
Already in touch with tech support. We're now going through the motions of identifying where the problem actually lies. So far we can rule out the motors and...
Hi all,
Shopbot PRS Alpha ~2012
So my shopbot has been throwing up an error message that reads "Shopbot No Longer being Recognized" non-stop.
What generally happens; machine will cut along...
Well, this is embarassing.
I thought I had already updated on this thread.
The issue has been resolved. It was a conversion with the control software it seems.
3.8.12 pretty much solved this...
Hi Kenneth,
dunno how to change postprocessor and slightly cautious about doing so with my limited knowledge :(
I just use the SB Editor (Any text program will do) and do a 'Find....Replace...
Hi Bill,
Thanks for that tip. It just shows I've still got so much more to learn :)
Thanks again, you just made the indexer utility even more convenient to use :D
I've just started on...
Hi Kenneth,
Haven't given the machine a detailed look over in that respect. Just did a quick check by eye and all seems to be well. But will try that out and see how it goes.
Thanks for the...
Brady,
That was a brilliant piece of advice in your last post :D tried out the Indexer utility in SB3 and it was exactly what I was looking for. Quick and simple. You do need a pen and paper for...
Hi Jack,
I thought the same thing about doing a kind of rig to lift one end so the top surface is horizontal rather than inclined. I was only concerned with the accuracy and rigidity of such a...
I guess I could have been more clear.
Absolutely right Dave, Its to be cut on the indexer :). It's a spiral rope pattern on a spindle. but rather than it being a traditional twisted rope pattern...
Hi all,
A fellow woodworker friend had asked me to cut a twisting rope pattern on some legs he was working on for a project.
"Sure, the machine will blaze through that". big mouth, big foot.
...
That, sir, is a very pretty cut
It really looks absolutely brilliant.
Hi Brady,
As mentioned in the previous post, Post #16 on Page 2 . On the advice of Tech Support, we changed changed all the 'J3' commands to 'M3' commands. When we do this the file cuts without...
Hi Mike,
Changing the jog speeds/ramping values was something I wanted to try and see how it pans out.
I haven't yet gotten the chance to test an unamended cutting file with the jog speeds or...
Hi Jerry,
Have my jog speed at 300mm/s (around 12ips).
Mark
Hi all,
Well, amended all the cut files to remove all 'J3' commands and replace with 'M3' for all four part files.
Did all my usual prep and started cutting the border pattern........ran...
Hi Burkhardt,
That looks like some significant improvement on both bit types. But the ebay bit is quite impressive with how dramatic the change is.
looks like doing a clearance pass then a...
Hi all,
Just an update for anyone keeping up with the thread.
So I followed Nates advice and took off the hub and turned off the spindle.......
Didn't have any effect. Same issue occurred...
Hi Nate,
I'm just heading off back to the workshop to try what you've suggested. Should have an update in about an hour.
Mark
Hi Mike,
Dropped the speed down to 5ips and still had the same offset problem. Also tried one test cut at 3ips, and it started offsetting almost immediately so gave up on trying to lower it and...
