I just got around to connecting the proximity switches that came with my PRS Standard. (Hey. It's only been 4 years. What's the hurry?) Since my control board doesn't match the manual I scrounged...
Joe,
I wouldn't be overly concerned about coming off as pompous or braggadocios. If a third of my signs looked half as good as the worst of yours I'd count myself as a success.
Remember, it...
Shevy,
Thanks for the good info. It took a bit of hunting but I was able to find the ADA/ABA Guidelines you referenced. Maybe you can settle an argument for me. We've been told for several...
To smooth the edges you will need to fill them with something sandable. Try FSC-88 WB from Coastal Enterprises (www.precisionboard.com). Of course then you will need to paint them.
Uh... Boat... Cannon... Bill, are you planning a move to Somalia?
Great looking job.
I don't have any weather related issues. I just set my Bot up in the living room. It worked great for a couple of hours but then I started getting a high pitched scream. Scared me to death. I thought...
Call Allied Platstics (214-350-3990) in Dallas. They should be able to fix you up with whatever you need.
Sam,
It's not likely that this is a hardware problem. What software are you trying to use to read the rlf file?
I wish I had that problem, Gary. My vacuum motors are sitting in a box at the house. My spoileboard is plywood. I bolted a 3/4 sheet of plywood to the table then glued another 3/4 sheet to that. So...
I'm having a problem maintaining an accurate Z setting. I'm making several ADA signs with raised lettering and Braille. I zero Z to the surface of the substrate then drill my holes for the Braille...
Great looking sign, Jim. And how convenient to have power lines running directly overhead. I'll bet the guys in the crane were doing handsprings. :-)
For those of you not familiar with the Raster Braille system it is the method (a method?) of drilling small holes and inserting an acrylic bead (dot) into the hole. For the $2000 license you get a...
Is anyone using their Shopbot to install Raster Braille dots? Anything I should be aware of before I spend a small fortune buying the license?

I don't think I really want to try making it morom proof. Not enough time and not nearly enough money.
Hmmm... Pressure...
We don't put nearly as much air in our tires here in Texas as the rest of you guys. Our air, as with everything else in Texas, is bigger. :-)
I've got exactly the same problem but Gemini won't work for us. This HOA had Gemini letters stud mounted on a low brick monument. The local morons actually used tools to break the letters and pry...
Thomas,
When you order your acrylic make sure you ask for cast and not extruded. We use a two flute bit with straight flutes. Since we don't have a vacuum table (yet) that keeps the material...
No. It's a dedicated computer running Windows XP Pro with all the updates. I wiped the hard drive on this system and rebuilt it when I put it on the Shopbot. It's not a real fast system but it's not...
I'm having a strange intermittent problem. Every now and then when I initiate a zzero the router starts to move for maybe 1/2 second then stops and I get a connection error on the computer. The only...
Charles,
One thing everyone seems to have forgotton to mention is that the transfer tape comes in rolls from 1" to 48" in width. Check with your local sign supplier. It's the width of the tape...
Stan,
I think you may have missed the point I was trying to make. Yes you CAN use a Shopbot with only the the control software. You can type any command or series of commands into the control...
Ted,
I am really impressed by the way you and Vectric are handling the software issue. It's not at all common in these times that a company will take such good care of it's customers AFTER they...
I've tried a couple of times to create a chamfered edge with my Shopbot. Both times I end up with it not quite right.
I start out by using a V-bit, once with a 60 and another time with a 90...
I just bought some from CarbideSelect
http://www.carbideselect.com/StandardLengthSQ.php?PHPSESSID=f9ad79cd53c43e4da5c94f34d75164a7
I've only slightly used a couple so far but no problems.
George,
It sounds like great fun. A couple of things to consider would be the range of offerings for park visitors. You might want to look into the amount of time various types of products would...
