That is an amazing increase, what did you do to increase vacuum that much?

I use MDO as a base which is much more stable than any other plywood that I have worked with. I put corian on top of that with the vacuum grid (4 zones) carved into it. The spoilboard tops off the...
Pretty normal here in northern WI. Maybe 8 -10 days in the upper 80's and the air con running. Kinda dry after a wet spring and early summer but maybe the lake levels will recede some. Crazy busy...
Very nice article. Thanks for posting.
So far I have only seen the bug when I paused during a Z motion. Happened on my prt and my prs.
Collets should be replaced every 2000-3000 hours of use since they do wear out. Plunging up to the...
I have vcarve pro and when the machine is moving in the Z direction and I pause the program with the space bar the bit will plunge until it is mechanically stopped when I resume the cut. I can't help...
I always like to see Brians posts. Ingenius
you can just sand the edges with a foam sanding block.
I would just cut rectangles on the table saw and fasten the plexiglass to 2 4 x 4's running perpendicular to plexi for your pass through. Attach with angle brackets.
I used corian for mine and it is very stable. I gained quite a bit of vacuum but I no longer remember exact numbers. I switched to 2 5 horse becker vacuum pumps with 4 zones, the smallest being 36...
Nice strong design Brian. How did you eliminate tearout on all those dadoes?
looks to me like you only need 1.25 inches cut length. put the blank on the table and mill the top with a fluting program to achieve the taper. Bob
the extra time it takes to run a 6 percent stepover will be a lot less than the time it takes to fix it by hand and the result is better.
Some metal parts are shipped with a rust preventative coating that would clean off with kerosene or some other solvent.
your 2 inch edge grain will work fine and also be more stable than the flat grain.
an excellent post John. I don't know if I will ever have a use for it but it is filed away for future reference.
would you post more about the details of your modification? Looks really good.
show a snap shot of your vectors. I think you might be carving a single line font and choosing your cut depth incorrectly. your vectors will tell the story.
Bob
great work as usual Russ
Mike in my opinion as a sign maker the story that your sign is trying to tell is about God or Jesus and how your church interacts with them. It is not about the logo of the church. Minimize the logo...
A ridged flat fixture is ideal, aluminum or I use corian because I have it in stock. Use a compressible oring that will pull perfectly flat to the fixture with the vacuum on. If your oring stays...
Mike are you planning to vacuum 20-50 and run them in one run or is 20-50 at each run but 1 at a time? It makes a big difference what vacuum pump is appropriate.
