This machine is Sold!
I'm moving and need to sell my Shopbot PRT 96 with V4G control box, Porter Cable router, upgraded both X and Y axes with e-chain for all cabling. Cutting area is 4'x8'. Originally I used it to cut...
Bill,
I used the 'Fresh Install" option in the Windows Update area. Hard to say if it truly is a fresh install.

I had the video card in my ancient (Windows XP) control machine die and figured it was past time to upgrade the machine rather than try to find a replacement video card.
I re-installed Windows 10...
Jerry,
My proximity switches have red/black/green wires. That picture was a bit different than my control box but enough info that I was able to get wiring fixed and the proximity switches are...
Could use some help on this one. My PRT v4Gg machine has dropped off the rails a number of times in the last couple days. I thought I was chasing a driver problem on one of the X steppers so replaced...
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the PRT v4G proximity switches? Chasing a problem here and found the wires disconnected inside the control box and I sure can't find that wiring info!
Thanks...
All of my machines are backed up nightly (automatically) by Windows Home Server... and it has saved my butt numerous times!!!
I design on a laptop [my mobile connection], do cleanup and fine...

Interesting problem here. When it first crept up I was seeing a problem that followed the motor/cabling, regardless of the port it was connectoed to. That lead to a motor swap which didn't fix...
I checked the cable again, everything looked fine but I replaced the cable anyway just to eliminate that as a possibility. Still had the same problem: the X2 motor can be turned by hand [with power...
Thanks guys!! Does anyone have specs on the wiring? I've ohmed the cable to X2 and it appears good, fwiw, but think I may just make myself a new cable to eliminate that as a possibility.
I've tried switching software - reverted to 3.5.6 and then back to 3.6.5 with the same results. I dropped both X motors from the rails and tried turning the motors by hand. With the control box on...
I switched wires [X1 to X2 and X2 to X1 at the control box] and the problem didn't move. I pulled the wago connector on the motor and reseated it, no change. I reset all the wires in both connectors...
OK, I checked the far side of the gantry and no detectable movement there.
Update: The machine is a PRT, not a PRS!!!
Yesterday I loaded up version 3.6.5 and went to surface a project I'm working on here. I noticed I'm starting to get a lot of comm failures but what really caught my attention was a new sound coming...
I'm using Partworks to V-carve some lettering on small box lids and having problems with lettering size and placement. I have the artwork looking the way I want it but when I cut it the letters are...
Brady,
Thanks. Looks like this isn't going to be a quick fix. Any recommended sources for the tape? A quick look at the 3M site shows multiple VHB tapes - is there a specific one I need or will...
Brady,
I've re-assembled my machine and in the process of aligning [and checking alignment] the pinions I discovered that my X-axis racks [yes, both X-axis racks] have a significant bow inwards....
In the process of chasing down a recently developed 'stutter' problem and pulling the pinions off my Shopbot [PRT Alpha?] I discovered worn ridges in my Y pinion and in one of the X pinions [but not...
I'm in the process of planning my much-needed workshop and reserving space for the important bits as I go. I'd like to be able to put a Shopbot in a room by itself to isolate the noise and dust....
