Hello Tex. For the last few years I have stopped posting on here, just read when I get a chance. That note about being in the software business before caught my attention and I though it worth...
Interesting thing to think about. If a cable is connected at both ends, a coil in the cable becomes an inductor. If one end is disconnected, it acts as an antenna. So the question about shortening...
I have cut a fair amount of lexan which is a PITA, to get descent results, I use vacuum hold down, a 1/8" bit and leave a skin on for the first pass. That holds everything together and on the table...
As great a program as VCarve Pro is, consider upgrading to a full Aspire 8.5. Then the shopbot can do even more cool stuff! And no limit on what machine you drive with the program. Lots of posts...
Chuck, the answer is that the "JPEG" must not be a "JPEG". When an image file has a ".jpg" extension, it is sometimes actually a "portable network graphic" file internally. I have seen that problem...
Darin,
I noticed the following quote in your post "When I drew these and made the toolpaths I adjusted for tool width". What? Drew the toolpaths with what software?
If you enter MX 0,...
That must be a brand new shopbot, there is not a spec of dust on it! My shopbot has not looked like that in something like ten years! Archaeologists of the future will excavate the sawdust my bot...
Excellent video, worth watching for anybody using USB in a shop. The presenter is unusually knowledgeable, and just gives the straight scoop in simple English.
Thanks for the link :)

Here is the thread where the build-it-yourself 3 axis topic got introduced to the sweat fitting method. I posted several photos of my method in the post.

Thank you Joe! Good to know you are still making those fabulous signs! Having the thermal camera is really just a toy in this application, but I can be certain to have heated the section I want to...
Starting out, thread the rope through the 1" PVC conduit, which is laid across a 2x4 the width and height of the hump I wish to make:

PVC Conduit bending..
I have been doing an electrical project recently where I needed to bend PVC conduit into custom shapes to avoid obstacles. I discovered if I put a rope inside the conduit it...
Scott,
I think the lesson I learned is to not trust anything long term. Things that worked fine when everything was new, may not later. Especially after the batteries have been online for about...
I bought a FLIR E5 about a year ago, wow, that was worth the high price. I discovered that a piece of equipment was ready to catch on fire. Paid for itself in just one day!
The equipment was a...

There is a chip "74LS138", it converts 3 inputs to 8 decoded outputs. You will need two of them :) The price is less than $1.00 each, much less than a PLC.
Hope that helps..

Just a comment on PC router reliability, I got a tip from Bill P to run the RPM at 15K and just leave it there. It makes a huge difference on their reliability! Thought I would pass it along-

Scott- the voltmeter test is simple. The voltage between the alligator clip and any point on the frame should be 0. If its not, then connecting it to the frame will cause a short circuit for that...
"I can hear a slight hum through the system".. gulp.
A change like clipping the ground clip to something else thats grounded should never cause a hum in anything. If it does it is a clear...
Scott - indeed congratulations! After a certain number of posts you became a contributor as well as a student of the forum. When that occurs, you really earn the senior member stripes.
Well...
Thanks to all :)
It just keeps working so I just keep using it :) The bleederboard has been replaced of course, its just held in position by dowel rods that are sacrificial if need be.

If you have been using the ShopBot for a solid 10 years, the contactors may be worn out. They are modestly priced, and the replacement contactor only needs to be equivalent to the original one- coil...
Feel free to hook it to a plug. I use a 4 wire 50A on my BT-32, its worked since the first day it got power on it. Thats been several years now. ;)
You wont have any problem as a result, and...
