Got to see the craziest Shopbot ever, Frankenbot. A 6 metre long machine 3 metres wide. with two seperate x cars. No I don't know how they kept them from crashing into each other. Its the old...
I have an electronic gizmo that mounts on my table saw blade with magnets, reads to a hundredth of a degree. Makes setting the saw easy.
Check for ground. If you have a dust collector make sure that the hose is grounded to the frame. Mine connects to the earth ground as well.
Next, and this is the one that helped my bot the most....
Start Aspire.
Click Help/Check for Updates.
Tell your anti virus that you really did mean for the program to update. work through the prompts. Done
Try Dover books. They have many out now with a cd included that has all the designs in the book.
I received this email after I had sent some modified drawings to a client. For all the ones who give you a hard time, then there's this:
Thank you David for the quick turnaround.
The 8" version...
I use a business network not a home network. I have my design computer and then my shopbot computer. although the shopbot has a LAN cable it is completely firewalled from the internet, has no anti...
A sanding buff works just fine for getting all the edges. I have mine on a mandrel on my lathe but you could use a drill press as well. Always work in the six to nine oclock range if the clock were...
I have an Onieda Cyclone and really like it. With the dust shoe it picks up most things but there is still a mess on the table after you pull your parts. I have a floor sweep that I leave open to...
What software are you trying to use to view the dxf? If you are using Aspire/partworks they don't handle three d files at all. You'll need to lay it out in Cad first and then import as a 2d...
Try this http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/showthread.php?16651-3d-Terrain-models or search on the vectric forum for Big Topo. I think that's what it was called. ...
I have that as well, in a book called Circular Work For Cabinetry and Joinery. Its from about 1900 and I think its available on the web. Its the one shop book I keep having to replace as people...
Not my plan, but it's the clients plan. If I'm feeling nice I may offer to drill holes so they can sew up the ply. They are going to use bending poplar.
As in many things, you have to know what to search on in order to find the answer. I was looking for a GORE CURVE, most commonly found on pages about globes or parachutes. The method I ended up...
I need the unwrapped sphere. As if you were making a beach ball with 6 panels. The actual piece is to be 6 feet in diameter
Does anyone have a method for making a beach ball type sphere? I have found some templates online but want to actually know the math or method.
Thanks,
David
In this case, better safe than sorry. They should pay for and arrange shipping. On the other side of this, no deposit, no work. With people I have no history with, and some with whom I have too...
If you've checked your switches, its time to check your connections. Sporadic lights mean loose wires somewhere.

I think your problem is much simpler. Replace the loose nut behind the machine. If the loose nut can't turn on the vac before the toolpath start.
Or do it the way they have been done since they started making rosettes, with a lathe. With only 16, you could spin them in less than a half day, spend no extra money on cutters and sanding is easy...
I managed to run mine over with the y car. The embarrassing part is how long it took to realize my problem was a cut wire with occasional continuity. I have it attached to the bolt on the spindle...
When asked who has the best customer service I always reply Shopbot. Hands down. My neighbor is looking at a new machine. He said he's looking at Laguna. I told him that the customer service at...
You can also add conditional statements, repeat or change settings. just make sure that it works before you put your material down and turn it on!

I have a client who wants me to cut, well, the space shuttle. Will be foam and I will slice the model to stack it. The question is what format should the model be in so that Aspire can read it? ...
