I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I gave up on my local woodworker's guild for the same reasons chiloquinruss did. I wanted to share what I had learned and learn from the other members. I...
I totally get that. No need to complicate things, right?
There's a bit of other joinery that gets cut along with the profile. I just don't have any in the file.
Brady,
Thanks for your input. I knew I could count on you to have some insight. I like the idea of using a camera mounted on the gantry. I was discussing this with a coworker yesterday. That's the...
Hi,
Imagine a hardwood chair leg. After anchoring my material to the spoilboard I’d like to cut several legs from the same board. I’d like each part placed and rotated depending on the specific...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a USB typeB cable to connect the PC to the control box? I have found that there is a major difference in the kind you use (connection issues and drop outs with...
jheiss,
Same thing here. I must have fat fingered some junk into the command line box. Once I entered a valid command and executed it the error went away. No need to muck with the registry.
Works like a charm. Thanks again, Brady.
Thanks Brady. I just changed the settings and will aircut the part again to see the changes in action. BTW, I read your blog post on ramp values in the mean time. Great stuff and worth another link...

Hey Everyone,
I love my Shopbot buddy and have used it reliably for years but it has become unreliable in the past few weeks. Maybe it's related to an upgrade in control software? I'm using the...
After each time I flatten my table I run a file I created that engraves a grid on the table surface. Sometimes I'll even run a sharpie down the lines to make them easier to see. I use these lines to...
I work without a vacuum table so almost all of my parts have tabs to hold them in place while the bot finishes my cuts. Tabs work great but can sometimes be a pain to cut, especially on big sheets....
I meant to include the link. Whoops. Here's the first post.

I'm compiling some of this fantastic advice into a series of blog posts at 100kgarages. I hope it will help others. Please let me know what you think, or better yet, leave your comments on the blog....
I have used polyurethane on weathered barn boards to help keep the surface intact while carving. It worked very well. Be sure your bit is very sharp.
I'm guessing that shellac would perform about...
Eugene, you are very kind and generous with your time. Thanks for all of the great advice. It will be a big help and I look forward to chatting again soon.
Gene, thanks for the PM. You are about...
Thanks, Eugene. I just replied to your email. Looking forward to chatting with you.

Great. I really appreciate the help. I have sent a message to Eugene and invited him to this thread.

Hey everyone.
This topic has been covered a couple of times in the past but it's been a while so it may be relevant to many of us.
Here's my situation.

Gary,
Sorry for the confusion.
When we do the actual cut, we are not doing any offsets.
When we do an aircut, we use the 3D offset in the fill-in sheet. The problem of topping out in Z after the...

#1
We are not topping out on the z axis. Last night we were using a 2" bit and 3/4" mdf. The safe z-height in the cutter tab is set to 1.00".
#2
We are not editing any of the fill-in sheet...
Thanks, Brady. I totally get where you are coming from. If this were my personal shop, I would just work around these problems and leave it at that.
The shop I work for, The Mill, is part of a...
I know for a fact that issue #2 only happens during a 3D offset. There is a sub-routine that is supposed to check for safe height, then raise to safe height if Z < safe height. For whatever reason it...
