As usual, the culprit was human error. Specifically, mine. I swapped the Z and X2 leads between the steppers. Swapped them back and everything is fine. D'oh!

Thanks again. I'm headed to the shop now and will triple check everything before doing anything rash.
Thanks Kenneth, I actually thought of that as I know it will work. What makes me hesitate is that I ran my PRS in my old shop for 13 years with nary a hint of an issue. Then I dismantled the...
I moved from California to NC and have been setting up my PRS Standard at my new shop. After getting everything set up I did some 1" moves to make sure everything was hooked up correctly, but heard...
A PRT is an older (pre-2007?) model, right? I presume you're looking to do this upgrade on a budget, right? If that's the case, I recommend you look into a Huanyang water-cooled spindle kit with its...
Thanks Wayne...excellent post! Can you email me a larger version of the photo showing the closeup of the stepper motor and mount? Thanks again, Stan
I know this is primarily a wood working forum, so it stands to reason people might think first of an indexer for its turning abilities, but I exclusively use my ShopBot to make 3d patterns in tooling...
Yes, excellent thread Jim! I mainly machine 6 pcf tooling board, which is very light weight, and I figure I can make a frame stiff enough to hold the work piece. A while back I machined a 3-sided...
My shopbot has the V4G geckodriver board with steppers, not servos (not PRSalpha). Please message me with details and price. Thanks, Stan
Thank you both for the helpful replies! One question I have for Jimmy is why you consider it not practical to elevate the headstock and tailstock? Thanks, Stan
Hi,
I am considering purchasing or building a 4th axis rotary indexer for my 2007 PRSstandard 96x48x24. The ShopBot website advertises three sizes: 3", 6", and 12" (PRSalpha only).
Question 1:...
Very interesting post...thank you. I wanted the water-cooled version because none of us in the shop like the noise generated by the air-cooled Porter-Cable, and the positive comments I've read here...
I measured the coolant line nipples at .281", so I presume I can just use 1/4" ID clear vinyl hose for the coolant, and just force it onto the nipple?
I have several 110 circuits within easy reach.
Thanks, but I rarely work beyond 8-10 hours at a time.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies.
bleeth, the 220 is on 20A breakers and appears to be 12 GA, so will plan to continue with that. I also like the idea of a switch...thanks!
Gene, thanks...
Using Fozzyber's Water cooled spindle installed thread as inspiration, I took the plunge this weekend and bought a 3-ph 2.2kw ER20 water-cooled spindle off Amazon. I expect it to arrive tomorrow.

Thanks Brady...I was hoping there was a commercially available solution, but I'll check out the phone option now that I have a smartphone.
Is there such a thing? I have to multitask in my shop and am anywhere from 10' to 50' from my Shopbot while it works, and could really use a wireless stop switch. I searched the company website, but...
Any news on this? A customer visiting my shop today asked if I had a 3d printing attachment for my Shopbot. Sadly, I had to say no... :o
Thanks guys! I ran several of your suggestions, but couldn't get the control box to answer the pc, so called Shopbot's tech line. Jeremy walked me through a series of checks, and we found that the...
Thanks Jerry. I tried the UR command and reloaded the appropriate driver, but there is no difference to the outcome. I also continued in preview mode, and when I toggle to cut mode the Input #4 (kill...
Hi guys, I got the error message below when I started my PRS96 this morning. All the connections seem good and both the pc and the controller restart normally, but I always get this error message....
While reassembling my Shotbot at the new shop I got to looking at the lower cross braces and decided to invert them and add a lower (plywood) deck. The first photo below show the brace as the...
David, I'm interested to see your shop if you can fit it in without too much inconvenience. Will contact you offline for details. Thanks, Stan
Wow...thanks! That looks to be a very useful tool. Bookmarked... :D
