I bought an older used CS40 which I plan to send to Thermwood in a year or two to completely refurbish - you can see the process here:

Just to update everybody, my PRSAlpha is now for sale (I'm near Toronto) and I just bought a Thermwood.
I really wanted to stay with ShopBot, I have nothing but praise for this machine that got me...
Maybe that's the root of the problem, Shopbot owns the niche it's in and the competition is either DYI that aren't reliable in a production environment for business, junk Chinese imports/rebrands or...
If some people don't want to pay for additional upgrades, that's fine, at least make them available for those who do. Want to replace the USB with a network cable? Send is X$, want to have a Maglev...
I don't think they are as far behind as you think on the price/features for a non-solid frame system that can be brought in on a pickup truck and carried through a front door - I've been looking...
I was wondering if anybody knew if ShopBot was about to release an upgrade to the current PRSAlpha, it's a great machine, but looking at what centroid/acorn is offering - why isn't there an upgrade...
I've decided to just get a PRS in the fall - there have been a tremendous amount of improvements since this PRT hit the market and although the used car may look great, there is wear and tear through...
I've had my ShopBot Desktop with spindle since 2011, originally set-up for 120 and then 220 before I left for Australia with it, it cut fine in Canada in a -30C garage (spindle warm-up was literally...
I've had a wonderful time with my ShopBot Desktop that I got in 2011 and still works totally fine to this day and I've been saving-up to buy a PRSstandard for quite a while but recently a friend of...
BINGO, that was the problem! Thanks knight_toolworks!
Hi there, have a odd problem, I set my z-axis depth to a specific figure and it has been cutting absolutely fine for years but now all of a sudden, it's migrating downwards while the shopbot shows...
The machine just stopped again, I freaked out but then realize it stopped because it finished the job! Power supplies are less than a hundred dollars, maybe they fry ever few years but I'm getting a...
I ordered a new power supply, arrived a few hours ago and stuck it in the machine - it's run totally fine for the past 5 minutes which is a record in my book - since the last post, it lasted again 3...
During warm-up routine, noticed two red lights - pic attached.

Hi Gary, will check it out - right now it's down for the count completely - I'm letting it rest.
Ken, the breaker popped 2x during the shutdown and didn't two other times - the machine just went...
I replied but somehow didn't show-up - this might be a double post.
No, 220 wouldn't be the issue, it has run at that power for years without issue in +40C in Perth, Australia to below 0C during a...
That was short lived like last time - 3 minutes after warm-up routine, died again.

Originally my ShopBot Desktop was 110 but then I moved to Australia, so Shopbot changed the set-up to 220, I then moved back to Canada a few years later and got my own shop, 220 was in the shop so...
Electrician opened-up the power supply, did tests, all is OK, so put it back in the machine and now it's working again (???) while right before, nothing. Will see how long this lasts... I also used...
Had an electrician come in to check the machine over, he's come to the conclusion that it's most likely the power supply as well. Will post update once I have it.
Jon
It happens randomly in no set area of the design or time. The entire machine just stops (powers off) and I get a pop-up saying "check cables etc." as the machine is no longer recognized. I'm cutting...
Since the last message, the ShopBot died 3 more times, sometimes boots right back up, other times - like now - nothing. It didn't set off the shop breaker though but since doing that time, can't cut...
Well I'll be damned, this morning, start the machine and everything is fine... landlord is an electrician so I asked him to check the ShopBot over and as soon as I plugged it back in, it booted up!...
Thanks - my guess is that it's either a fuse or the power supply. ShopBot Tech got back to me btw, just figuring out what it is and then I'll post an update here to others with similar problems have...
