I've done the same thing many times. I used a 50/50 mix of Titebond and water. It's the cheap version. The final piece comes out perfectly smooth and I don't bother to sand it.

Don, got your email. It went in the spam. Sorry. I haven't used Touchcad before, so I can't comment, but in either case you can probably find a reseller who can give you a better price (at least...
Artcam doesn't quite do that kind of thing, if I'm understanding you right.
A CAD program like Rhino3D will "unroll" the sides into a rectangle so you can see the length etc.
You'll...
I think I'm leaning towards the MDO. The base has 2x4's going from post to post already. I was going to bolt the MDO to the 2x4's with the bolts protruding from, or going into the MDO and the...
Thanks guys. That's some good advice. I'll have to find a local source for the MDO. I'll call the lumber yard.
I hadn't even worried about warping. Now I've got all new worries......
I suppose it's inevitable, you get a ShopBot, and eventually you'll get a sign job. Well here's my chance.
I've got a sheet of 1" sign foam, and I'm trying to figure out how thick my relief...
I got some 1/32" bits from Think and Tinker http://www.thinktink.com and they've held up really well. Long enough cutting length to get through 1/8" plywood for me. I see they've also got them...
Yes, my stupidity. I figured that out 15 minutes after I posted. Running fine now. I'll be keeping an eye out for odd behaviors.
Thanks,

I ran the beta for the first time today, and it wouldn't recocgnize my PRTAlpha. It just kept saying that there was no connection on that port.
I switched back to .27 and all is well again, but...
Jay,
Your math is right, but I think you guys are talking at cross purposes.
The tolerance for the machine is that you should be able to move it anywhere on the table and have it within...
You're going to have to do a little math I think.
In the meantime, I would get your block of foam, and cut the flats vertically rotating it each time, and when those are cut, then lay it in turn...
Okay, here's one a little more unusual. It's a prototype for a new model kit. If it flies well, then cutting molds will be the next step....

John,
I'll be there, and I'll be happy to talk about something. What are you interested in? 2D foamcutting? 3D? Mold Making?

P.S. Wife and Dog may be making an...
I haven't compared any of the models to reality except the aircraft (my area of expertise) they're reasonably accurate.
The models are in 3DMax format, so you'll need that to open them up.
I...

Mike,
This might help, I have the complete set from Deespona. Maybe one of those will help? http://www.deespona.com/3denciclopedia/categoria_weapons.html
If you click on the details,...
Hi, I was down at the Jamboree, and saw that all the new alphas have clear lexan wire guides. They're very interesting especially as they taper. Thicker at the ends, narrower in the middle. Seems...
Thanks, Tom I'll check it out...
I've been actually thinking about the very same thing. I've been avoiding cutting real aluminum molds, and seriously considering the aluminum filled epoxy as an alternative.
Which epoxy/brand...
After talking with the shopbot guys, it turns out I do have a different mount because of my Makita past... They're sending me the Porter Cable mount, and I can shim to my hearts content after that. ...
I just got one of the Milwaukee routers, and was surprised to find that is it too big to fit in my Alpha mounting bracket. The bracket included a black plastic insert that narrows the opening to...
Umm... This is that old thread.
I bought one of those after seeing your previous post on it. Works MUCH better than the simple trash can separator I had been using. I've been doing some 3D work in MDF, and after vaporizing 150...
Just for reference, increasing the cut speed on the fly does NOT change the ramp speeds. Normally this isn't a problem, but cutting some Styrofoam I increased the cut speed from 2"/sec to 12"/sec,...
Zero is a relative term. It is wherever you want it to be. Just move the cutter to M2,48,24 and then Z2 and you should be all set. Just like you would on a real piece of wood.
