My client doesn't want a relief or a 3d carving, he actually wants the spine suspended in a circle.
I thought about contacting a medical supply company and buying one of those skeletons and...

I would go for the 60". Baltic Birch is one of my most requested material. Standard size is 5'x5' and I'm constantly ripping the sheets and drawing 2 seperate cutting files.
We considered buying the Accent Sinage system but I have a hard time shelling out the 2k for the Braille pen applicator.
I've never had the opportunity to see or try it in person so I can't...

I've been asked to produce some signs for a local golf course. They're sponsor signs that are to be affixed to the hole markers.

I prefer Oracal 813 stencil film. It works excellent and is much cheaper than the Gerber.
I agree, buy a bit from Centurion Tools. The seemingly simple design of the v-carve bits eliminates almost all tear-out.
Unlike conventional v-bits, the Centurion bits seem to compress the fibers...
Is it possible when you flipped the sheet the new placement wasn't correct?
If you drilled a 1/4" hole to hold a deck screw there may be enough wiggle room to cause poor placement.

Anyone using this for signs? The cost is pretty attractive so I'm wondering how it carves and paints compared to HDU?
The description from N.Glantz catalog describes it as having a wood fiber...
After looking at another impressive sign from JC I thought I should get a grain fraim. After pricing it I thought (like many of you) that I would make my own.
Anyone care to share how they...
Joe,
I asked this question in my last post and nobody really gave me a clear answer. What method do you use to cut your mask in preparation for blasting?
Is it applied to the raised area...

I've been searching the archives and reading about sandblasting signs. I'm not really sure I understand how the mask is cut away to leave an offset around the letters and other raised areas.
I'd...
I've been doing a little 3d lately using the 3d machinist from VectorArt3d in the Va3d format.
I'm going to demo a program that will import stl files and I was wondering if anyone had a simple stl...
Joe,
I looked on the web and couldn't find the product? Did you find it at one of the local big box stores?
Does anyone know of a supplier of smalts on the east coast? I know it can be purchased through Letterhead on-line store but the shipping and time-in-transit can be a hassle some times.
I also...
Found it!
About half way down there's a post by Dale Laking that was very helpful. It's old (2000) but it was a great help to me.

Ok, more raised letter questions.
I've been playing with routing out a pocket, cutting out and gilding letters and then fasting them in the pockets.

I love the look of the gilded raised letter signs posted on the forum.
I've been playing with some samples but I seem to be having some problems.
