I am looking for someone in the Nashville, TN area who may be wiling to do a little demo for my boss. I have been explaining the benefits the CNC can offer for us but there really is no subsitute...
Is there a way to slow down the very first pass on a 3D finishing tool path? I am probably a bit aggressive with how much I take off in that first pass as much as I leave on from the roughing...
Thanks, Ken.
I will give it a try.
I am having trouble with my getting my Cabinet Parts Pro to work correctly and have been unable to get ahold of Ryan to see about fixing the issue.
I am in the middle of doing some remodeling for...
Does anyone have a contact for Ryan? The web support page is giving me an error when I try to submit and I have received no reply from the email used on a previous issue.
I agree in that it didn't come out with as much contrast as I would have liked around the lettering. It also looses a bit in the picture. Need to see if I have a better one.
Just a fun project. Modeled in Aspire. Roughly 24"x47"
That question was asked by the painters when photography was invented and yet we still have painters. It was asked when by the theater and opera performers when talking movies started showing up...
The foam is based in a product called Sculpt or Coat. It adheres to foam much better then paint and won't flake off. It also adds a hard coat to the foam although no where near as hard as a...
Brad,
Sadly their is not much money in theater, academic or otherwise until you get to the very large opera or theater houses. It is cheaper to have an army of free or underpaid students armed with...
We save what we can for future use. What can not be salvaged fills the dumpster.
It used to bother me a bit that we did so much work for so little time. But in that time hundreds or even...
Yes there is a lot of logistics in building a production like such as this.
The majority of it was built by 6 students, one part-time carpenter and myself.
Together we put about 1500 hours into...
Here are a few images during the build.
A couple students holding the watch.
I thought I would take minute and share some of the work my students have been doing at the local university where I manage the shop. The students help build most everything for the production of...
Looking for an employment opportunity and thought I would check in with the fellow shopbot folks. Never know unless you ask after all.
I own and operate a PRS which I have used professionally for...
That is a nifty kit. How durable is it? The fittings to the pucks look to be friction fit. I can always make my own pucks and fittings, just want to make sure the pump will be good and strong.
My knowledge on pneumatic venturi vacuum is rather limited. I was looking at the idea of one that I could use for specialty vacuum jigs and also used for an occasional vacuum lift. Each application...
After having seen your great work and craftsmanship and pictures of your shop there is still one thing left I wish to see. Have any applications for an Apprentices handy?:)
Thanks everyone for the ideas and input. Depending on the flexibility and machineablity the Newwood looks to be about the best idea. I may give the folks a call and check on the flexibility factor....
I was wondering if anyone could think of a durable material that could be used for an outdoor application that can be machined flat and then wrapped around a curve of about a 2' radius. The material...
Have you considered having the short sides on hinges as opposed to the slip fit? Less pieces you have to keep track of that way.
The wood is the native cedar we have here in Texas. And yes the finish is Sculpt Nouveau.
Did these on the indexer as a test and birthday gift. Projects like these don't pay the bills but they do make one smile.
