Depending on what you plan to cut I would not let the crispy bot story stop you from using vacuum many of us use vacuum with no issue. I would never think of going back to clamping or screwing parts...

Not a good idea even if you found a bit the abrasive material would be bad for your machine. Diamond bits would make the cut but I would not do it on your machine IMHO.

I do not spin the spindle when using the laser edge finder. I very rarely use them any more on the mill the wiggler is more accurate and on the SB I have the 0, 0 corner setup with the prox switches...

This is how I would do it. I cut a lot of UHMW but if you need a smooth finish I don't believe the SB will get you a good finish in UHMW. My finish is usually pretty rough in UHMW.
