If you are looking to just score the aluminum you might try a Diamond drag bit. (Just make sure your router/spindle is turned off with the diamond drag bit)
Beautiful work as always Scott.
Merry Christmas to you and let’s all hope for a happier New Year.

Scott,
Wish it was 28db. It is a REDUCTION of about 28db. From 87-90 now down to about 60 -65. I think my days using a router were probably 90-100db.
Thank goodness for spindles
Scott,
The fan is an Infinity Cloudline S4 that I purchased from Amazon. It has a 4" hose diameter with a variable speed control. Very quiet even though I run it at max rpm most of the time.
I've...
$1100 for all the 80/20 components
$470 for Acrylic materials
$120 for Axial fan and duct hose
3D printed all the hose flanges and hose mounts
80/20 materials are not cheap but well worth their...
Finished my enclosure for my desktop and am very pleased with the results. I had two goals. First was to reduce the noise while cutting as I am using long tapered end mills on most of my recent...
Well I don’t know what others are using however, I’m in the process of finishing an enclosure for my CNC. Not only to help keep the dust off my ‘puter but keep the dust out of my lungs. Along with...
Interesting thread.
I was just looking for an indicator light that would alert me that the machine was powered on. Several times I would come out in the morning and find it still powered up....
You should live in Florida. Every afternoon during the summer months we receive thousands of lightning strikes around here. I believe that’s why we have the dubious “honor” of be called the Lightning...
Any Training scheduled for this week?
Hummmm, thanks for the info Bill. I originally had the file set to write however, soon learned I didn’t want all the logs so disabled it. That being said I think I’ll install an external hour meter. ...
Thanks Scott. I downloaded the file and will attempt o load it tomorrow
I see the log files for the individual jobs however, haven’t found one for the TOTAL runtime of the machine
I dig a little deeper when I get back into the shop
Thanks for the info
Is there a file within the SB control software that records the total machine runtime?
Thanks to Bill and Ryan for their online “Camp” today. While I don’t currently have an indexer I think one is in my near future. Picked up some good information today and hopefully will retain it...
HollyWOOD possibly
Ryan,
Thanks for your online “Social gathering” this morning. I was a little late in joining as I didn’t see your email sooner.
I hope there will be more in the future. One way to keep our social...
I was never able to determine why it was off so much. However I’m well on the way to having it dialed in. I opened the spindle mounting holes (slightly) to allow me to align the “X” axis. I drilled...
Just finished a project which had several shallow cut circles at various diameters. While cutting the grooves the depth would vary at several points and the bit was not cutting into the wood. I...

Got no use for FB
Found my answer. Watched a video while I was cutting a file.
When all else fails, “Read the manual”
If during a cut and I have to stop the cut to change cutter how do I restart at where I left off.
I know Newbie question and I should have known that before hand.
Again, not knowing your settings and bits you are using when I started doing 3D models I ran into the same effects you are seeing.
Smaller step over and small Dia. TBN cutters can eliminate most of...
I guess that means he’s no longer a “Craftsmen”. He’s now, to use his own words, a Technocraftsmen”
