Does anybody know if the ramping speed issue with bumping feed up or down while running a part file has been resolved? I am on version 3.6.44

Very nice set up! I wish I could mount that on my machine but alas there isn't the room. What are there specs for the geared stepper motor that drives it? Backlash?
My god those home prices are low, those houses on your site would be multi million dollar homes where I live.....wow I have to move away from here.
man that guy does good work
Nice hack! Don't burn the house down... where did you get the laser? and can you describe how you hooked it up? I have access to a laser but the materials are restricted and I would like to etch...
The indexer is working beautifully, controlled by a little arduino. After 25 revolutions (625 of the stepper) the mark lines up. There appears to be zero backlash, I will need to confirm that. Next...
Here is the gearbox unit assembled and ready for testing on Tuesday. I have a friend who has managed to get another driver and stepper combo running off of an Arduino board. We are just getting that...
Nice! Please post some more pics of it and your installation if you can.
It took a while to finally get back to this project, here are my prototype pulleys. The frame should be a snap to make next and I'm almost to the stage at which I will wire it up to the control box...
I have some small amount of play at the rear of my y axis, and can force all of my motors out of position with moderate force

this will be the bearing and rail system for my z axis I'm currently making, it will free up the 4 BWC v grooves currently on...

Here is a shot of my machine as it is currently. What you can see here that's different from a standard prt alpha is that I...
Yes this is the problem, trying to define where the slop is coming from. I know this will sound hokey but I installed rollerblade wheels on the outside of both the x and y axis cars gripping the...
Thanks for that Gary, I will look into that first. Here is a recent part cut from 0.5 inch materialhttp://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=29677&stc=1
Gary, I have a 2005 PRT alpha upgraded with; 7.2 gear motors on all 3 axis, new control card, hsd spindle, and lots of bracing and extra bearings riding on BWC hardened rails. New pinions and the...
I have the 7.2 gear head steppers on my bot, and now I am looking to further increase my resolution. Does anybody have any ideas of the next step? I am seeing the resolution 'chatter' on aluminum...
Gary, I'm trying to do my homework here by understanding all of this. I suppose that the reason shopbot used the 30 tooth gears was to give the bot a smoother action on the linear rack. Do you know...
Those reduction units look great Gary. I am a little confused however concerning the comparison between these 4:1 belt reducers and the 7.2:1 tapered hob gearbox motors from Vexta. Would the...
Ok I think I just figured it out; 500 steps per revolution, 360 degrees per revolution= 500/360= 1.3889
1/8 steps in shopbot programming= 1.3889 x 8= 11.1112
25:1 reduction= 11.1112 x 25= 277.78
I am assuming that those values are specifically for my 25:1 reduction set up. If I notice some slight error in rotation position I would probably need to adjust those values I am assuming. Can you...
Gary, thanks again for all the info. You have saved me a bunch of time with this project. Yes, I was talking about the driver and motor combo that used to be mounted on my machine, I am going to use...
Yes this is the next hurdle to jump, once its all hooked up. I actually have no idea of how to even operate it. I hope that I don't end up smashing it into itself etc. I have no real commercial use...
Very cool! So what you are showing me there with that chart is that my resolution is actually double of what I had calculated.
I'm using shopbot programmed driver and asm911 motor for this. I think there is an increased resolution with that set up

Thanks to Gary Campbell and G Burkhardt I think I...
