Really hate to hear that, I learned so much from Joe! RIP
Would like to hear how he is doing also!
I have decided to sell my Roland picza Pix-30 3D scanner. Unit is in good working order and comes with an older laptop to run it.
Great for scanning objects into a 3D fiile for carving....
Looks like there are some vetric users in Columbia, Fulton, and Jeff City. Might see if you can get in contact with someone local:

Sorry to hear this. RIP
Thanks for the detailed write up! This is something I've wanted to try.
Can you show us some projects done with the laser?
Scott, While it's fresh in your mind, would you be able to document wiring and vfd settings on here so we could find it later?
Yes, let us know how it goes after several months, a year etc. I'm on my backup spindle now, would cost $1500 to put bearings in the one that's down. Could buy a lot of these for that cost, let...
When I did it, I used a vcarve toolpath with flat depth. Just set an outer 'border' vector sightly larger than the material so it pocketed it all away but the raised letters.
I would glue up the wood, pocket the letter outline into the wood 1/4" or so, and apply letters cut from White PVC, signfoam, or even dibond so they stood slightly proud of the background. Like Dave...
I have a full size PRS shopbot and a Cam Master stinger. The shopbot is my preference by far, but that may be largely due to having used it much more and longer (have had 3 shopbots) than the...
Looks great as usual Joe. Can we see a picture of finished product?
For toolpaths I use:
A_jobname_60hsv_Zll_Top
A is order toolpaths are to be cut in (A,B,C etc)
Jobname is a job id
60hsv is the bit to be used (60 Hersaf V, 1_4em for 1/4 End Mill etc)
Zll...
Thanks Joe, always good to see your inspiring work.
Good looking fix - can't tell it happened. One of the local park systems always ask for 2 of any sign they order, one to hang and one for backup.
Sounds great Scott!
Brady, No one has them in stock anymore - bought the last vs060 carbide.com had a year or so ago. Hence looking to see if anyone has any they don't use and would part with.
Could go to Amana...
Anyone have Her-Saf V cutter bodies they no longer use? I'd be interested in purchasing them from you. I'm especially in need of the H-VS060 small 60 v cutter, but could use some 90, 110, 120's...
Can someone with BobCam 22 or later convert this bbcd file into a dxf or eps or something I can import into aspire?
Thanks in advance.
Not a PRS Alpha either...
I have carved marble tile, but don't thing ceramic will work.
Have you called and talked to shopbot? They used to have some lesson plans and other resources available for teachers. May still be on their site someplace - have not looked recently.
Thanks Joe! Always nice to get an insight into the way you work!
That is a PRT with an older PR ball screw style Z. Would need to see control box to know if original control or 4g control.
Drop the motors down and check if one of the x motors has quit working - wiring, driver or motor itself, or loose pinion
