Awhile back I made one (actually 10) for a local pizza place here in Tucson. Alcohol dissolves lacquer so I finished them with 2 coats of shellac and 3 coats of polyurethane.
Maybe Color-Core HDPE? Pricey but good stuff.
Try changing the usb cable with a good high quality shielded cable. It may not fix the problem but it's the easiest place to start and certainly can't hurt anything.
