    Default Regular mdf

I've searched and read just about every post on vacuum tables using the ultra light or traupan mdf, but my question is will regular mdf work? if i skin both sides? I have a 48x48 prt and would like to make 4 small zones with a fein vac, I can't find any traupan or ultra lite mdf around my area, thus the question. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I use 1/2" regular mdf for the spoil board and only have Home depot shop vacs and it works fine.
Ive never tried anything else so i can't say that it works the same or worse i just know it works for me.
My next upgrade will be the fein vacs, i do know that they work a lot better then the standard shop vacs that i'm using now.

    Hope this helps,
    Sean

Regular mdf will not work very will. It will work, but ULmdf will hold your parts more than twice as good.

You will not find the lightweight mdf at the normal lumber yards or home improvement stores. You will need to find a wholesale lumber supplier in your area.

Check with local cabinet shops if you can't find them and they will be buying from the type of buisness that you will be looking for.

I have been useing 3/4" MDF for 3 years. I also use 2 Feins for vac.
I have no problems. I surface both sides. My table is 5 x 10.
If I put a part less than 12" square I use double sided tape.
If cutting small parts from a sheet I use tabs.

Arreis from Sierra Pine works really well. It is Formaldehyde free (no lung cancer) glue and recycled wood fiber. I know that I always plug them. I swear that I am not on their payroll. Formaldehyde is to woodworkers what asbestos was to furnace installers. Do your lungs a favor and give it a try. You can do a search for Arreis and find it near you on their website.
