Default I'm getting some funky Z's!

I don't recall this ever doing this before but in the last several days I have been getting some funky Z action.

When I normally do a toolchange I manually raise the Z an inch or so then run the carriage over to me, change the bit then do a JH so I can re Z the new bit.

Well what it is now doing is after i insert the tool and JH the Z starts going down toward the material before it moves in X or Y and i have to hit the spacebar to stop it before it goes into the material. Normally it used to just leave the tool at wherever it was in the Z then move in the X,Y to the home position.

I haven't upraded to a newer version or changed anything lately....
Any idea what is going on?

    Jack...
Look at the code in the Custom99. That is where the actions of [JH] are stored

Jack: The other day you were discussing modifying your safe z height. Are you sure you didn't change anything else? Typically the bit will rise to safe z on a JH but if it is above it it doesn't go down.

The only thing i have changed about anything that i do differently then i have been doing for years, is in the "cutter" tab on the control software I changed the safe Z to .10 that seemed to make the Z want to top out.

I have changed it back to .25 and it seems most cut files default to about that and it hasn't topped out in the last couple days.

However when I JH it still goes downward

    Gary,

It has been so long since i fooled with code I don't know where you are referring to (Custom99)?

Are you sure you changed it to .10 or was it 10.

Jerry, i wish it was as simple as a misplaced decimal point! Sometimes we overthink things and don't think of the obvious things only thats not it, but thanks.

Since going to an alpha, mine is wierd too. it will run a file fine sometimes and other times, it just goes where it wants for no reason. It has been the c2 a few times, and once in a while the c3 does it.

If you copy your c99 file and put it away somewhere else and make a new one, I wonder if it will serve you ok.

For your new custom99 file, I would just try

MZ,1 'or whatever you want the z to run at
    J2,0,0

Then when you run the JH command, there is no majic. It really should go where you told it to.

Some of the files (in my opinion) are to complicated for just running a simple task.

Here is where the Custom99 is stored on my xp 'puter
    C:\SbParts\Custom\Custom99
