    Default Shipping products without damage

I am in the process of opening a custom molding and woodworking business. I was curious how other shops are shipping moldings and completed projects (i.e. desks, nightstands, etc...) to customers without having thier projects destroyed in transit. Particularly the molding that is in 8ft or more lengths.

Any suggestions on carriers or packing materials? Really doing all the logistical setup now so any suggestions by more seasoned shop owners would be greatly appreciated.

I have ordered custom mouldings in the past.I have received them in large cardboard tubes.Seems like the best method for shipping moulding.

I worked in the shipping business for 17 Years; (UPS Haz. Mat. & Damage Team) ship your package inside a wooden crate. There will be irregular charge but your package should get there in one piece. Another way is to put your product inside a 4 inch diameter piece of PVC pipe with caps at both ends; your customer will remove their product. Put a return label on the PVC pipe and return it to you. Again there will be an irregular charge but your item should get there in one piece. I did this for a 6 foot part a few years ago. Call me if you need more help 830- 226 - 5408 Tim

consider getting freight quotes as well. May prove to be cheaper than UPS with long/irregular shaped items.
