    Default Engraved cutting board

never really thought about engraving a cutting board until a customer suggested the idea, and asked me to do it.

I have been making numerous cutting boards lately, as they are a great way to use, and sell scraps/leftover material, or stuff that's been sitting around. Almost any size scrap that is long enough to go through the planer can be used.

    Michael,
Did you carve it before or after you glued it up? If after, how did you hold it down?

The carving was done prior. However I did glue up the rest of the lamination's the day before so I could clean them up, and carefully glue on the final one after carving.

Attached is a photo of the fixture that I used, and a drawing showing how everything was laid out. I used aspire, but the process is generic. The fixture was machined into a piece of scrap 2x6.

I used two separate sbp files, one to machine the pocket and another for the v-carving. However both were derived from the same file within Aspire. As a result the part is indexed perfectly in relation to the jig. Therefore the X/Y origin can just be eyeballed.

I did use some double stick tape in the pocket, to aid with hold down.

Its funny how we find clever ways to solve holddown problems whether they are simple or complex. Good job.
