Default Using Blind Dado Construction & Dado For Face Frames

    Hello

Can someone tell me if its possible to make a case with 3/4 ply joined with blind dado and at the same time have a tongue on the front side edges to register into a dado run into a face frame?
I am trying to speed up ff attachment.

    Thanks

    Steve

eCabinets can put a tenon (blind dado) on all the front edges of the cabinet components or the specific edges you want to join. If you are using sheet goods for the face frame, then it would also create the associated dado.

I would probably tenon the left and right ends, then use regular board stock for the face frames and cut the dado manually. It should be very quick for registering and joining the face frames. A face frame of sheet goods typically uses the puzzle joint, which is also very quick to assemble. I've seen some painted MDF face frames that look pretty darn good.

Can blind dado the front edges and the actual case construction itself?

    Steve..
I do this on a regular basis with both 3/4 and 1/2 case material. All our face frames are dadoed on the shaper 1/2 wide 1/4 deep. eCabs will relieve the 3/4 mtl to allow fitting into the 1/2" dado. You have to play with the dado %, but its doable. Also the blind feature keeps the dado tenon away from the FF intersect.

Here is a screen shot of a 3/4 case (bottom) showing the intersects & dados. hard to see the relief on the front of the left side, but its there.
