Tiling in Partworks3D

We are building a one-off female tool from MDF. I have attached a picture of the finished tool. The piece is about 7" thick so I have sliced it up in PW3D. Can I "tile" the individual files onto one sheet of MDF by fiddling with the origins for each of the 7 pieces?

You can import each slice with it's toolpaths into Partworks and postion them individually on your sheet of mdf.

Tim- How do you import the .v3d file into Partworks? Or are you saying that you can import all of the .v3d files into one master file? If that is the case then how do you do that?

Peter,

There are some videos and PDF documents that should get you going. They may reference different programs, so realize that Partworks = V-Carve Pro and Partworks 3D = Cut3D and for purposes of importing into PW/VCP, 3D Machinist works the same as PW 3D.

For an overview, after slicing the model in PW 3D you will have a separate file for each slice. Use these to set your toolpaths for each slice and save the files. After all the files have been prepared in PW 3D, you use the File>Import>Cut3D toolpaths to get them into Partworks where you can move them where you want. Assuming you used the same router bits for all roughing and finishing paths (or use MTC or ATC post processor) you can save all the roughing toolpaths as one cutfile, all the finish toolpaths in another cutfile and all the cutout toolpaths in a third.

Once you watch the video and read the PDF I think it will make sense to you and be easier than it sounds. Ask if you get stuck.

Got it! I did not realize I could import the .v3d file into Partworks. That is a huge help with some of the 3D things we are cutting! Thanks for the help.
