    Default Cutting 3/4" Poplar Plywood

I don't have one of those Compression Bits yet. What would be better for cutting 3/4 plywood? Up Spiral,Down Spiral, Straight 2 Flute or Straight Single Flute. I have no clue. I am still pretty limited on tooling.

If anyone could suggest Feed and Speed that would be helpful too.

    Thanks,
    Bob

downcut is best for you 1/4" two passes climb cut say 3ips 8k rpm .7 deep then the second pass same speed but clockwise cut at .75 deep. or whatever your thickness of stock is.

Wow, thanks for that Steve. I would have never thought of that. I will do it exactly like that.
    Thanks again,

I usually cut 3/4 ply with a 2 flute 1/4 compression , 6ips at full depth single pass 13000 rpm. if you are not in a hurry you can order them for about 22.00 from fred at centurion . they work good

I almost never need compression bit cutting plywood. as long as your spoilboard is not all chewed up.

remember that's for soft plywood. harder plys like baltic birch or apple ply in 3/4" may need an extra pass.

Really informative feed/depth stats, Steve! What cutting bit would you recommend if I don't have anything but the starter kit that comes with the Buddy?

CoBob, which bit did you end up using?

I'm also interested in cutting 3/4" birch ply.

I used a 1/4" down spiral and followed Steve's instructions. It worked very well.
