    Default PRSalpha user installing PRSStandard

Hi. I'm installing a PRSStandard 96-48. But I'm used to operate a PRSAlpha.

The machine has a 4hp 3phase HSD spindle.

Every thing is wired correctly. The vfd is working correctly and I can change the RPM from the control software.

But I can't get the spindle to turn

    My question is:
In a PRSStandrd, do I have to connect the two wire brown cable to somewhere in the control box?
In the alpha I use alt-1 alt-4 and push Start. In the standard I don't have the button box, so how do I start the spindle?

    Thank you

    Carlos

In the controller output 1 needs to be hooked up to a relay from the main board. If that is done, then those wires should hood to that relay on the switch side.

If it is like the 4 other spindles I have hooked up, touching those two wires together should make the spindle run.

Thank you Keneth, are you talking about the brown cable?

Without seeing the wiring into the vfd it will be hard to know for sure, but if the brown cable has two very small wires, that should be the control to turn it on.

To be positive, show a picture of where they tie into the vfd at.

If one of those is tied to fwd in the vfd, that really should be it though.

What is tied to output one on the shopbot control board?

    Thank you Keneth.

Here is the response from shopbot support (this wasn't in my installation manual) and every thing worked ok:

    onnect the VFD and Spindle

Connect the brown VFD cable to the Control Box.

The brown cable may have one of two possible wire combinations. One combination has three wires black, white, and red (red clipped back). The second combination has three wires black, green, and red (red clipped back). The white and green are interchangeable.

    * Make sure the VFD is OFF before proceeding.

    * The VFD has been pre-wired with the brown cable at the factory.

    * Run the brown cable from the VFD to the Control Box.

    * Pass the brown cable from the VFD through the cable access in the right side of the Control Box.

    * Connect the black wire and the white (or green) wire from the brown cable into the VFD terminals on the Control Board labeled "SPINDLE1" (For a second spindle, use the terminals labeled "SPINDLE2"). For Spindle #1 connect the black wire to the "F1" terminal and the white (or green) wire to the "C1" terminal, and for a second spindle use connections "F2" and "C2" in the Spindle2 section. The red wire is not used and should be clipped back.
