What do you use for a computer to drive your Shopbot? Is there any advantage to faster processors?

I'm not sure how fast is fast enough, but I know that when I was using a 386 to run my tool, the z-axis speed was limited by the computer's ability to put out instructions fast enough. I'm using a 486-33 now and things are faster.

What effect does the amount of memory in the computer have? Will larger blocks be created?

initially i used a pentium, then found a "very resonable 486....it slowed things down considerably..no matter how fast you set the speed it seems to top out at a specific rate...i tried sb.exe and sbx.exe and didnt seem to matter, im thinking now maybe its the memory

I am using a 486-100 with 40megs of memory. I haven't noticed it being slow. I can jog at over 4 in/sec without any problem.
