Looking for the best way to assemble cabinets

Hi,

Bought a used Shopbot 3years ago, mainly to cut melamine in are cabinet, so far it work great especially with the ShopBot Link and ecabinets.

Business is excellent but where always re-questioning are self in order to supply a better product.

Are biggest questions Assembly?

We tried screws, staples, nails, use dado mode in ecab, but it slows down cutting time a lot.

Using staples for now but it’s not perfect.

Open to suggestion.

We've been moving towards RTA fittings (Rafix) for our cabinets as the closet business influences our cabinet procedures more and more.

We use narrow crown staples and do a screw back up. So a 3 1/2" stretcher will have 2 staples and 1 screw. A standard depth upper will have 3 staples and two screws at the top and bottom. I have also found it is well worth it to use "cutter-head" cabinet screws over standard drywall.

I use Cabinet part pro I have it set for through dado average sheet cut time is 4 to 8 min
As Dave said screws and staples .But its also imporant to glue daddo it not will be weak due to thin material left.
We can do with 2 employes do 2 kitchens a day cut only

HI Kevin,

With 4-8min sheet cut time, What speed you run your ShopBot!, and do you do all the drill holes and toe kick on your sheet.

Since I'm running more like 12-15 min a 4x8 sheet, on my standard ShopBot at 1.8 cut speed with a 5mm compression bit.

I'm more with a kitchen cut in 2 days, must says are kitchen average 50-60 doors, are last one had 26 dove tails drawers.

I don't use toe kicks /I use base you get a better yield 30 inches

I tried all kinds of bits was not impressed with cut plus hard to get anything here .I use half inch plain 2 flutes exchange one for every kitchen works out to 12 dollars a kitchen.

The speed difference is I have an alfa It run at 12 maximun
my average kitchenis 30 to 40 doors

But also I make all draws on same file dovetail draws are not a selling point yet here

I have a air drill had a all kinds of problems wth it haven't had the time to get it working properly
Wish I bought second spindle instead

I can't talk about production work because I tend to mainly due higher quality custom work, But I tag everything together with a pin nailer then screw anything that is not visible glue and dado every joint clamp if necessary to get a nice tight joint. I have considered high production but my small shop and two man operation doesn't seem to fit.
