    BTW - I didn't mean clipping the ground clamp to the spindle, I meant it isn't needed at all with my HSD spindle, since the spindle itself is already grounded.

    YMMV - if you try this, be sure to test by simply touching the bit to the plate and watching the SB3 input. I have no idea how this would work with a router, or other spindle type...

    Yes, I have the HSD spindle. I haven't tried it yet, but I will give it a trial run first. I basically just touched off the tool to the top of the part to get through the weekend. I jumpered my plate and clip connection points to avoid any problems while running.
