    Default Pressure Foot

I recently purchased one. Since I have no vacuum table at the moment, I often wonder why I didnt buy one sooner! It works very well for 1/8" abs plastic I cut.

    Hi Andrew,

I bought one some time ago for cutting paint stencils out of very thin plastic.

More than happy with it. No more ruined stencils.

    Cheers and regards,

    Roger.

well after reading about the pressure foot on here and then contacting widgetworks for more info, I actually ended up purchasing one last week from SHOPBOT and had them ship it along with my new 4G (4axis) controller upgrade. I installed and set-up the new control pcb today (awesome!!) and hope to get some real world tests in with the pressure foot later in the coming weeks. I have had issues in the past with material lifting on upcut sprial endmills and hopefully the pressure foot with totally solve this issue and maybe even let me cut out small pieces without using tabs. I may even try to post a short video on you tube that will show it working and hopefully more clearly than the video's that were posted the last time I looked

Can the pressure foot be installed with the shopbot supplied dust shoe? Seems it uses same mounting point from what I have read but can't find info whether both can be mounted?

No the stock dust shoe will not work with the pressure foot.

I had one of the first ones and use it a lot. I find you still need to hold the sheet in place one way or the other. you are limited on cut speeds and pass depth to keep the parts in place. I cut some 3/16" acrylic with a 1/8" bit in a single pass and it worked fine.

Ok so those of you have used one what did you do for dust collection? Use a shop vac following manually near the cutting area or just accept the dust? Curious to know as looking at getting one for cutting small parts.
    cheers

I made an adapter that works somewhat But I have my dc in front of the spindle. But the things you need hte pressure foot for don't throw out airborne dust for the most part. I almost never cut a wood product with it as I ahve other methods that work well.
